Seven additional private sector leaders announce support for Antimicrobial Use Stewardship Principles in poultry, now includes over 40% of global poultry meat production

  10 May 2024

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing concern in the poultry industry, with organizations like the Association of Poultry Processors and Poultry Trade in the EU Countries (AVEC), Baromfi Termék Tanács (BTT), BVG, FIA, Krajowa Rada Drobiarstwa – Izba Gospodarcza, NEPLUVI, and Yum! Brands promoting science-based antimicrobial use stewardship principles. These principles, developed by the International Poultry Council, aim to drive global change in the animal agriculture industry by guiding actions to avoid the need to use antimicrobials when needed. By generating support from the global poultry industry, the industry is working to combat AMR and reduce its impact on global health security.
